Kills the Queens and the colony. Research on Fire Ants now indicates that fire ants mounds can contain up to 150 queens and be 10 - 15 feet below ground. Simply drenching the mound will not kill them in most cases.
Maxforce Fire Ant Killer Granular Bait is applied around the nest or spread over large areas such as lawns, parks, recreational areas, football and baseball fields, golf courses, etc. It applies at a very low rate of 1 - 2 lbs per acre making it a an economically yet effective way to control fire ants. The worker fire ants pick it up and carry it back to the nest. The active ingredient Fipronyl not only kills all the worker ants but also the queens resulting in an efficient but fast kill of the entire colony.
Application Rate is 1.5 lbs per acre. Can be used as a broadcast treatment or as a mound treatment.
